Is Soy Good or Bad for Tinnitus?

Did you know that some people say that soy products can trigger tinnitus? Well many people suggest exactly that. On the other hand, other people advocate soy products as a great source of nutrients for people with tinnitus.

This presents a problem for us. Should you increase or decrease your soy consumption to lessen your tinnitus? Let’s try to figure this out.

More Soy or Less Soy? How to Decide

There are a few possibilities here. Firstly, it may be that the level of soy product consumption determines whether soy helps or hurts your ears. Another possibility is that the soy itself is good for you, but the soy product you are using is not. For example, most soy sauces contain MSG, a chemical which can increase blood pressure (a known trigger for increased tinnitus). So we’re going to need to do some experiments.

Some Experiments

First, if you consume soy sauce, try switching to one that doesn’t contain MSG, or stop using the soy sauce altogether. Then give it a week or so and monitor how your tinnitus symptoms are. If the ringing is lessened, you have a pretty good indication that MSG is the problem.

Second, try eliminating all soy products from your diet for a week or so and monitor the changes. If soy is implicated in your tinnitus, this test will show it.

That’s really all you need to do. Run these two experiments and see for yourself if your tinnitus is related to your consumption of soy products.

What is Tinnitus?

Tinnitus is a condition that causes your ears to ring constantly.

What You Hear if You Have Tinnitus

•	Ringing
•	Buzzing
•	Clicking
•	Roaring
•	Or even a sound that sounds like your heartbeat

Causes

There are many causes for tinnitus including loud noises, damage to your ear or brain, and certain medications.

Treatment

One type of treatment is called white noise tinnitus treatment.

What is the White Noise Tinnitus Treatment?

White Noise

White noise is created when many different frequencies are combined together. Listening to white noise can help tinnitus sufferers hide the constant ringing. You can find CDs and MP3s of white noise to help in this endeavor.

How This Can Help

By listening to these CDs or MP3s, you end up focusing on the white noise rather than the ringing. After a while, this causes your brain to have something called auditory habituation. This is when your brain tunes out a certain sound because it becomes used to hearing it.

While you are using white noise as a tinnitus treatment, you should also be having regular therapy sessions to get more information on the best ways to use the white noise to distract yourself from the ringing.

To be successful with this treatment, the white noise should be turned to a volume just below that of the ringing you hear. This will allow you to start focusing on the white noise rather than the ringing.

Other Treatments

There are many other kinds of treatments available. For more information, check out Tinnitus Miracle, a book that tells you everything you need to know about tinnitus including treatments.

First the good news – we know what causes tinnitus. And now the bad news – conventional medical science cannot cure it. Not permanently at least. Sure enough, your doctor would suggest a few remedies, and it may seem to you that the noises you hear are going down. As a result, you begin to relax believing that a pesky problem has been resolved. But suddenly the sounds return again. This is a very common problem actually.

So let us turn to the causes instead, and see whether we can try to solve the issue from this end.

Here Are Some of the Most Common Causes of Tinnitus

Exposure to noise – Did your mom always tell you in your younger days to turn down the volume? She was right. Exposure to loud noise can give you tinnitus. In fact, rock musicians, and those who work with them, or in night clubs often have it. Those who work in construction sites also have tinnitus. So turn down that volume while you still can.

You could begin to hear all kinds of noises if you have been exposed to just a single high-pitched noise. Or it could be due to a continuous attack of loud noises close to your ear.

This is what happens.

Prolonged exposure to noise can damage the Cochlea and cause tinnitus. So if you cannot simply stay away from all that noise, at least get some protection. Use an ear plug when you can.

Head injury – Take care of your head because a severe blow or a slight bang could make you hear the tinnitus noises. The head is of course one of the most sensitive parts of the human body. But some people cannot live without an injury, such as those who are into sports – boxers and football players. That’s why athletes are more prone to a tinnitus attack. Even a dental surgery could make you hear them.

Ear infections and other ear problems – An ear infection, and even sinus can lead to tinnitus as well. When there is an allergy or a sinus infection, the mucous thickens within the inner ear, and this causes more pressure. The extra pressure can lead to tinnitus. Meniere’s disease, where the fluid level goes up inside the middle ear is another reason. It could even cause hearing loss.

Prescription medications – Conventional drugs often cause side effects, and tinnitus is one of them. Actually, all kinds of drugs have been blamed for instigating this condition. Such as antibiotics like Aminoglycosides, Erythromycin and Vancomycin, Aspirin or medicines containing it. Anti inflammatory drugs like Advil, Aleve, Anaprox, Clinoril, Feldene, Indocin, Lodine and Motrin have also been blamed. Sometimes people heard noises after taking chemotherapy agents such as Cisplatin, Nitrogen Mustard and Vincristine. And some others have even blamed quinine and loop diuretics for this.

Stress – You must already know that excessive stress is not good for your health. It could result in all kinds of medical problems, and some of them can also be fatal. Stress can cause tinnitus too. A lot of it is damaging for your immunity, and this can lead to a misfire in the sound/brain waves. This adversely affects your nervous system, and makes you hear the noises.

Depression – Some people believe that depression causes tinnitus. And there are those who say that tinnitus causes depression. But most of them agree that there is a relation between these two. And anyway, if your tinnitus is bothering you endlessly, it can make you depressed. Naturally this will further complicate matters.

Take on these causes to achieve a permanent relief from tinnitus. Just tackling the symptoms will never work. After all, if the causes remain, the symptoms are bound to return.

The only way you could ever get rid of your tinnitus for good is by following the holistic approach to healing. By using a multidimensional treatment for tinnitus, we are tackling all tinnitus causative factors and eliminating these triggering elements from the root. This is the only path for permanent freedom from tinnitus.

This article is based on the book, “Tinnitus Miracle” by Thomas Coleman. Thomas is an author, researcher, nutritionist and health consultant who dedicated his life to creating the ultimate Tinnitus solution guaranteed to permanently reverse the root of ear ringing and naturally and dramatically improve the overall quality of your life, without the use prescription medication and without any surgical procedures.

What is Tinnitus and What Can You Do About It?

Do you suddenly get up in the middle of the night hearing strange noises? Yes it can definitely be frightening, more so when you cannot find the source. Now consider for a moment that these sounds are coming from within you. Most people would be stunned to know that. Many of us do not even know that our internal organs can make sounds.

Let us try to see whether you actually heard these noises or not, and if you did, where did they come from. Now before anything, let us get this straight – yes, you actually heard those noises. No, they are not a result of a creative mind that imagined things in slumber. But having said that, it is also true that there is indeed no source of the sounds you heard. So what is it? Confused?

This is a classic case of tinnitus.

What is tinnitus?

What you experienced last night (or did you just get up from sleep and switch on the computer) is a classic case of tinnitus. This is a medical condition wherein a person hears all kinds of strange clicking, ringing, buzzing, whistling or hissing sounds within the ear. What’s so worrisome about this condition for a lot of people is that, there’s actually no physical source of these sounds. What makes it even worse is that, no one else seems to hear them. Frankly, these people cannot be really blamed. Naturally, if you cannot see where the sound is coming from, and if you keep hearing it, you are bound to get worried.

In tinnitus, the sounds a person hears are actually perceptions. Since there’s no actual source, they are often referred to as “phantom noises”. Will it help you if you knew that about 8% of all people in the US suffer from tinnitus? Perhaps not, but at least now you know that you are not alone who hears these strange noises.

What Causes These Noises?

Of course you will want to know why you are hearing these noises. But even before you find this out, you should know that tinnitus is actually not a disease. It is actually a symptom of a problem that is rooted deep, somewhere within your body.

The problem could be a simple one like an infection in the ear, or even simpler, such as ear wax. Just clear the wax and get the infection treated, and the noises could go away. In some people, it could even be the result of a side-effect of a drug they took. Or it could be more complicated.

Some people will have tinnitus because their Cochlea is damaged. And in a few, it could be caused due to hearing loss. But of course, the most common cause of tinnitus is exposure to loud noises. The noise can be a sudden burst, or it could be a constant banging that hits the ear drum and travels inside. If they are abusing their ears by making it a point to stay close to such a racket, they will definitely have to pay a price. What’s this price – it is tinnitus.

Of course, the noises of tinnitus are not heard only during the night. You could hear them during the day too. But it definitely seems to become worse in the night. In a few people, the noises come and go as they please. And there are others who hear them all the time.

Treating Tinnitus

It is almost impossible to live with tinnitus but you don’t have to. If you are hearing the noises, whether all the time or intermittently, you must seek treatment immediately. But sadly, conventional treatments only treat the symptoms of tinnitus and may provide temporary relief at best. Sure enough, the sounds are going to come back.

The only way you could ever get rid of your tinnitus for good is by following the holistic approach to healing. By using a multidimensional treatment for tinnitus, we are tackling all tinnitus causative factors and eliminating these triggering elements from the root. This is the only path for permanent freedom from tinnitus.

The Friday night concerts are always a favorite. But most don’t realize the loud music accompanied by a booming bass and high pitched sounds can damage their ears. [..]

The Friday night concerts are always a favorite. But most don’t realize the loud music accompanied by a booming bass and high pitched sounds can damage their ears. Most people are not aware of the facts regarding ringing ears concert not until the end of the concert wherein they would feel that their hearing is diminished and there’s something in the back of their head that sounds like a mild ringing.

Ringing ears is sometimes described as white noise music or static sounds. This ringing ears concert phenomenon usually lasts as short as a few minutes to as long as a couple of days. If you are suffering from this condition, you probably are concerned about how this will affect your ability to hear.

Usually, ringing ears after a concert doesn’t need any remedies since it goes away without any medications. It is recommended though to stay away from loud sounds because the condition can worsen if you still continue to listen to loud noises while you are suffering from the ringing ears.

Our ears contain microscopic hair like cells in the inner section of the ear that are very fragile and can be easily damaged or destroyed by repeated exposure to loud noises. These hair like cells will eventually be severely damaged or destroyed by frequent exposure. Exposing your ears to the trauma of loud noise over a prolonged duration will manifest itself in ringing of the ears.

It is best to wear earplugs every time you go to a concert to avoid the after effects of ringing ears. With ear plugs you can still hear the music perfectly and you don’t have to worry about damaging your ears. These said earplugs are small enough that they can hardly be noticed at all and they are relatively cheap. Once you walk out of the concert, you will surely notice the huge difference in your ears.

Tinnitus is the medical term for ringing ears. Tinnitus is an ear problem that involves hearing imbalance, high pitched ringing and sounds that are static like. The common cause of tinnitus is damage to the nerves located in the ears, which can either be due to a disease or infection of the ear or loud, damaging sounds.

It is advisable to visit your doctor in order to determine what’s really causing your ear ringing. As a precaution it is a good idea to protect your from loud noises when ever possible.

Recent studies have shown that exposure to sounds higher than 100 decibels can cause permanent damage to the ears. The maximum sound lever you should expose your ear to is 85 decibels which is about the sound of a power lawn mower.

In conclusion, ringing ears concert can be reduced by wearing earplugs every time you go to concerts or any music events and special caution should be taken if you have sensitive ears or prior damage. Usually, this ear problem goes away on its own, but it is still best to consult an ear specialist especially if the condition persists for several days. As with many things in life prevention is better than having to find a cure so it is a good practice to protect your ears when you know you will be around loud noise.

Three Things That Cause Tinnitus

As a tinnitus sufferer, you know that this condition can cause anything from mild irritation, to the complete disruption of your life. But what causes this infuriating condition? What kind of things cause tinnitus?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a singular cause (if there were, the problem would be easier to treat). Instead, there are three broad categories of causes that can all lead to your ringing ears.

I know. I know. You’re looking for a treatment, not a technical discussion of the things that cause tinnitus. But understanding what is responsible for your ears ringing can pave the way for an effective treatment and perhaps a cure for your tinnitus.

I think you’ll find it worthwhile to discuss the three types of things that usually cause tinnitus. Here they are:

Inner Ear Trauma

Side Effect of Disease

Ototoxic Drugs

In the rest of this article, we’ll look at each of these in more detail. First up, inner ear trauma.

Inner Ear Trauma Can Cause Tinnitus

The first, and perhaps most common cause of ringing ears is inner ear trauma. Even if you haven’t heard that phrase before, you know what this is. When people hear a very loud noise, their ears will ring for a while.

The ringing is the result of inner ear trauma. In plain English, the noise damaged your inner ear. Normally, your ear recovers from this kind of thing and the noise quickly goes away.

But too much loud noise for too long can cause permanent inner ear trauma and ringing. So can a single exposure to an extremely loud noise. Being too near an explosion or even an air horn can cause major, perhaps permanent, damage. If this is the cause of your tinnitus, you’ll need to concentrate on doing things that will help your inner ear heal.

A Side Effect of Disease

The second type of thing that can cause tinnitus is some kind of illness or disease that causes tinnitus as a side effect. For example, otosclerosis and Meniere’s disease are two ailments that can often cause ringing ears as a side effect.

Other, more well-known diseases can do this too. Diabetes and high blood pressure are two common diseases that can trigger tinnitus as a side effect. If this kind of condition is causing your tinnitus, you’ll want to focus on treating the illness or disease. There’s a good chance that your tinnitus will stop by itself, once the triggering disease is treated.

Ototoxic Drugs

The third main cause of ringing ears is ototoxic drugs. Ototoxic means toxic (harmful) to your ears. Ototoxic drugs are drugs that can damage your ears as a side effect of their use. For example, some of the drugs my nephew used when he had cancer were ototoxic, and although he is now free of cancer, he is afflicted with tinnitus.

People are sometimes shocked to see that so many of the prescription and over the counter (OTC) drugs we use are ototoxic. If your ringing ears are due to an ototoxic medication, you’ll want to talk to your doctor immediately about the problem. You may be able to change how the drug is administered or even switch to a different medication that doesn’t have the same side effects.

So Many Things Cause Tinnitus. What Does It All Mean?

As you can see, understanding where your tinnitus comes from could have a major impact on how you treat it. This perhaps explains the success of holistic tinnitus treatments, which go after all the possible causes of ringing ears at once.

Given how complicated tinnitus can be to treat, such a comprehensive approach could well be the best chance you have to deal with your tinnitus problem once and for all. In the meantime, you can use this knowledge of the types of things that cause tinnitus to bring yourself some temporary relief.

Did you know your medicine could be causing your tinnitus?

If you’ve been suffering from tinnitus for a while, you probably know that there are lots of things that can cause the condition. One of the more surprising causes of tinnitus is medicine. That’s right. Some of the medicines your doctor prescribes for you can actually cause tinnitus.

The connection between medicine and ringing ears was certainly a surprise to me. I learned of it when my nephew developed tinnitus from the cancer medications he was taking. The doctors were able to eliminate the cancer, but part of the price he paid for his cure was long-term, likely permanent hearing damage.

Let me give you a list of the types of medications that can cause tinnitus. According to the Mayo Clinic, here are the types of medications know to sometimes cause or worsen tinnitus:

Antibiotics: Several antibiotics can cause problems, including chloramphenicol, erythromycin, tetracycline, vancomycin and bleomycin

Cancer medications: Some of these powerful drugs that can cause tinnitus include mechlorethamine and vincristine

Diuretics: Bumetanide, ethacrynic acid, and furosemide

Quinine medications and others (such as chloroquine) used to treat malaria

Aspirin: When taken in extremely high doses (12 or more per day)

If you experience ringing in ears and are being treated with one of these medications, you should discuss the situation with your doctors. They may be able to change the way they are treating you and provide you with tinnitus relief at the same time.

What could be a more natural cure for tinnitus than stopping taking a medicine that causes ringing ears as a side effect?

The reports about alcohol and tinnitus are all over the place. Some claim alcohol helps with ringing in the ears. Others say booze makes their tinnitus worse. Can they both be right?

Science hasn’t been much help answering this one. In a 1995 study, researchers found that roughly two thirds of people in a study of alcohol and tinnitus claimed no connection between their consumption of alcohol and tinnitus symptoms. But what about the other third?

The other third were split fairly evenly between alcohol improving their tinnitus and making it worse. So maybe you need to take matters into your own hands. Here’s what you need to do if you are a drinker who wants to see if there is a connection between alcohol and tinnitus for them.

Testing Alcohol and Tinnitus

Each day, shortly before having anything alcoholic to drink, record in a journal how your tinnitus is affecting you.

Consume your usual amount of alcohol in your usual manner.

Repeat this process for at least a couple of weeks.

Review your journal entries to see if you can notice a pattern of decreased or increased ringing in the ears.

NOTE: Don’t drink more than normal in hopes of seeing better results. Heavy drinking is known to worsen tinnitus for most people. Sometime after you finish drinking but before you go to bed, once again record in the journal how your tinnitus is affecting you.

Once you know whether (and how) alcohol affects your tinnitus, you can adjust your behavior accordingly. Again, even if you do see benefits from moderate alcohol consumption, please don’t increase the amount you drink in hopes of improving your tinnitus. The negative effects of increased alcohol consumption aren’t worth it.

Anywhere you see a lot of excess ear wax production, you have a likely source of Tinnitus. There are a lot of cases where the problem is not very intense so it is easily treated. You can stop ear ringing.

In the most serious situations, ear wax can cause permanent damage to components of the ear, making the ringing in the ears problem almost impossible to address. There’s always going to be a payoff if you get yourself checked out if you have a lot of buildup in your ears and Tinnitus at the same time.

When you get your ear wax situation under control, you’ll realize how wonderful it is to hear normally again, something that often is taken for granted. You’ll find that ringing is just one of the many kinds of sounds you can hear inside your ear even though no sound is really present. You can have a Tinnitus miracle.

The easiest way to eliminate earwax as a cause of the problem is to have it checked first rather than waiting until all other potential causes are eliminated.

You’re going to have to see a professional to get assistance with this condition too. You really don’t want to be scraping out your ears or taking any other crazy risks. What happens with ear wax is that it starts preventing noises from the outside from reaching the inner ear. This has an effect of magnifying sounds that are coming from inside the body.

You’ll find that this situation increases stress which often – in turn – makes the ringing noises even worse. There’s even the cases when you’ll have ear wax amplify disturbing sounds, prompting many people to think they’re going crazy.

You’ll soon realize that Tinnitus affects the amount of rest you get as well as how much you enjoy life.

Earwax cleaner systems are for sale everywhere, but most people only use them when there’s a developing problem. Why is it that most people don’t use them on a routine basis? Probably because they are horribly inconvenient. Still, they are a vital part of good hygiene. Be sure to read the Tinnitus miracle review.

If your ears are ringing so bad that you’re here reading this article, you’re probable looking for tinnitus cures, not explanations of how the problem started. But understanding what is responsible for your ears ringing can help you find a cure for the problem. So let’s talk about the 3 kinds of stuff that usually cause tinnitus.

First is inner ear trauma. This one you’re probably familiar with. When most anyone hears a very loud noise, their ears will ring for a while. This is caused by some damage to your inner ear. Normally, your ear gets better and the noise quickly goes away. But loud enough noise for long enough can cause permanent inner ear trauma and ringing. So can a single exposure to an extremely loud noise. If this is the cause of your tinnitus, you’ll need to concentrate on doing things that will help your inner ear heal.

Second is some kind of illness or disease that causes tinnitus as a side effect. For example, otosclerosis and Meniere’s disease are two ailments that can often cause ringing ears as a side effect. More surprisingly, diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure can also cause tinnitus as a side effect. If this kind of condition is causing your tinnitus, you’ll want to focus on treating the illness or disease. This will frequently stop your ears ringing by itself.

The third main cause is ototoxic drugs. In plain English, this means drugs that are harmful to your ears. It surprises many people to discover that a large number of prescription and over the counter (OTC) drugs have possible side effects that include tinnitus. If your ringing ears are due to a medication, you’ll want to focus on ways to finish taking the medication, or perhaps changing to a different medication that doesn’t have the same side effects.

As you can see, understanding where your tinnitus comes from could have a major impact on how you treat it. Alternately, you could pursue a holistic approach that treats all the possible causes of ringing ears at once. Given how complicated tinnitus can be to treat, such a comprehensive approach could well be the best chance you have to deal with your tinnitus problem once and for all.
