Have you ever considered the possibility that what you eat is actually causing or at least contributing to, your tinnitus? Surprising as it may be, it turns out that for at least some people, their ringing ears are due to food allergies. Let me explain.

A surprising number of people have both food allergies and tinnitus. Many of these people find that when they eliminate the food they are allergic to, their ringing ears get better. One theory for why this happens is that the food allergy causes chronic inflammation in the ear or auditory canal. And inflamation in this area can cause or worsen tinnitus.

What Foods Can Cause This?

Presumably any food that causes a negative reaction in your body could cause ringing in ears. But there are several common foods that are known to cause allergic reactions in many people and could be associated with your ringing ears. They include:

Wheat

Milk

Eggs

Peanuts

Soy products

There’s a very good chance that most, if not all of these foods are part of your diet. And since many food allergies are unrecognized, there’s a reasonable chance that you are allergic to at least one of these. It’s worth doing a little investigating to see if you might be affected.

What to Do

So how do you figure out if one of these foods is causing or worsening your tinnitus? It’s actually pretty easy. Start keeping a log of the severity of your ringing in ears. Then choose one of these foods and cut it out of your diet for a few weeks. After a few weeks, take a look at your log and see if the symptoms were reduced when you cut out that food.

If your tinnitus symptoms seems to improve when you cut out a particular food, you may well be allergic to that food. Even if you’re not allergic, that food seems to be somehow involved in your tinnitus, so do everything you can to eliminate it from your diet completely. Once you’ve done that, start the experiment again with another of the foods and see what happens.

Two white crystals that can cause tinnitus? Is this some sort of joke? No, it isn’t a joke, and it isn’t some kind of mystical gibberish either. What we’re going to talk about here is two white crystalline substances that you eat every day, which could be causing or worsening your tinnitus. Want to learn more? Keep reading.

Before you start worrying, we’re not talking about some kind of street drug. We’re talking about sugar and salt, two white crystalline substances that we eat every day. One or the other (if not both) of these are added to almost every processed food you eat. And for at least some of us, the more of these substances we consume, the worse our ears ring. Here’s what we think happens.

Salt, more specifically the sodium in the salt, can increase your blood pressure. And high blood pressure is known to cause or worsen tinnitus in many people.

Sugar is a stimulant which can cause your blood vessels to constrict. This can reduce the blood flow to your ears. And reduced blood flow to the ears is known to cause or worsen tinnitus in many people. In addition, the high insulin levels that can come from chronic overconsumption of sugar can disrupt the metabolism of the cells in the inner ear, which can lead to tinnitus.

So what can you do about this? The answer is simple if not easy to accomplish. As much as possible, eliminate salt from your diet for a few weeks and see if there are any changes to your ears ringing. Don’t forget to check the labels of the foods you buy so you can choose low sodium foods. If your tinnitus improves, you know you need to do everything you can to reduce the amount of salt in your diet.

The same strategy applies to sugar. As best you can (don’t forget to check those labels) eliminate sugar from your diet for a few weeks and see how your ringing ears respond. If the results are good, you know you need to make a consistent effort to remove sugar from your diet.

Sugar and salt are only two of the many food items that can cause or worsen tinnitus symptoms in some people. There are many more, and a quality guide to treating your tinnitus will tell you what they are and show you ways to eliminate them from your diet.

Did you know that the noises in the world around you can have a major impact on your ringing ears? It’s true. Most tinnitus sufferers find that there’s a connection between the amount of noise in the environment and the intensity of their buzzing, popping, ringing ears. But what can you do to reduce excess noise this in our noisy modern world? Here are some suggestions.

Perhaps the best, although not necessarily the easiest thing you can do is ask the people around you to turn down the volume. If you think about it, you’ll probably find that a lot of the noise in your life is under the control of other people. TV’s, radios, music players and the like all have volume controls. Politely asking people to turn down the volume a bit, or at least to give you warning when the noise is going to get loud can make a difference. It allows you to either leave the area, or take other steps to reduce the amount of noise you’re about to be exposed to.

Use ear protection. If you can’t reduce the level of noise outside your head, you can reduce the amount that gets into your ears. Ear plugs can be a safe and inexpensive way to reduce the amount of noise that gets into your ears. You’ll probably need to experiment with different brands and styles to find ear plugs that you’re comfortable with, but the benefits are real and worth the effort.

If you live in an area where there’s construction or other noisy machinery, contact the local authorities and ask them to ensure that the work complies with local noise regulations. Everyone involved may be surprised to discover that the noise level is excessive and they need to take steps to lower the noise level. I once lived across the street from a construction site and was regularly blasted out of a sound sleep by the piercing sound of the equipment’s back-up sirens. In hindsight, it seems likely that the noise level there was excessive, and a phone call to the town might have resulted in my getting a lot more sleep and perhaps less of a tinnitus problem than I have now.

These are just a few of the ways you can protect your ringing ears from excessive outside noise. A well-designed, holistic plan like Tinnitus Miracle will show you many other ways to protect yourself from environmental noise.

Some people say alcohol is good for people with tinnitus. Others say it is bad. They’re both right. Keep reading to find out how this is possible.

You may have heard that drinking a little alcohol reduces tinnitus symptoms in some people. You may also have heard that drinking a little alcohol increases tinnitus symptoms in some people. Surprisingly, both those reports are correct. A 1995 study at the Welsh Hearing Institute found that 22% of the participants reported increased tinnitus from drinking alcohol, while 16% reported reduced symptoms. The other 62% reported no effect. What does this tell us?

This tells us firstly that consuming a small amount of alcohol is unlikely to affect your tinnitus. But if it does, the effect could be good or bad. We haven’t seen any definitive studies on the reasons for these effects, but here’s what seems to be happening. For people who benefit from alcohol, it is likely that stress is one of the causes of their tinnitus. Modest alcohol consumption can reduce your level of stress, which would likely reduce the amount of tinnitus.

It is less clear why modest consumption of alcohol would increase tinnitus effects. One possibility is that alcohol does seem to act as a stimulant for some people. Stimulants frequently increase tinnitus symptoms. For heavy drinkers, there’s less of a mystery. The dehydration, headaches, and overall physiological damage caused by heavy drinking are almost guaranteed to worsen tinnitus.

Does Alcohol Improve or Worsen Your Tinnitus?

It is relatively easy to figure out whether alcohol increases or decreases your tinnitus symptoms. But first, let me make this clear: I do not advocate you starting to drink in an attempt to treat your tinnitus! The goal here is simply to help you discover whether your current drinking patterns are contributing to your problem or helping lessen it.

To find out how your current drinking patterns affect your tinnitus, you simply need to take some notes. For the next couple of weeks, pay attention to the level of your tinnitus before and after you drink, and record whether it increases or decreases. Next, if you’re feeling up to it, stop drinking altogether for a couple of weeks and make note of your general level of tinnitus. These two simple experiments should tell you all you need to know about how alcohol affects your tinnitus.

Did you know that the foods you eat can have a major effect on your tinnitus? Many people have reported that caffeine makes their ringing ears worse. You will learn about the connection between caffeine and ringing in your ears, as well as ways to reduce your caffeine intake.

Like most tinnitus sufferers, you’ve probably heard that you shouldn’t drink coffee or soda. That’s because they contain caffeine. Caffeine stimulates your nervous system. This has benn shown to increase tinnitus symptoms for many people.

The up and down mood swings that some people encounter with caffeinated drinks can also indirectly cause ear problems. Caffeine is also a vasoconstrictor. That means it constricts blood vessels. And reduced blood flow to your ears can cause or increase tinnitus symptoms.

So it’s clear that avoiding the caffeine from coffee, tea, and soda could help reduce your tinnitus. But these aren’t the only sources of caffeine in your life. Energy drinks often have massive amounts of caffeine, making them off limits too. And there are more sources.

Are you a fan of sweet foods like cake and candy? Well, I’m sorry to tell you this, but both chocolate and cocoa contain caffeine. Sometimes a lot of it. Not as bad as the drinks we’ve already talked about, but still enough to cause problems for some people. This means you shouldn’t simply switch from coffee to hot chocolate in the mornings. And it means you should swear off chocolaty products like candy bars of many cakes. Sorry.

This is only a partial list of the caffeine sounces, some of which you would never expect, that you want to avoid if you’re serious about curing your tinnitus. Fortunately, while there are certain foods you should avoid, there are also a number of foods that can actually help with your problem. The foods you eat can easily become part of a holistic treatment for your tinnitus symptoms.

But those aren’t the only causes of problems. A number of other foods and drinks have been shown to increase (or reduce) some people’s tinnitus problems. The pages of Tinnitus Miracle contain loads of information on which foods you need to avoid. It’s part of the holistic approach to eliminating the noises that plague you.

Many things in modern life have been shown to cause tinnitus or make it worse for some people. In this post I’ve listed some of the things you should avoid as part of your plan to cure your tinnitus. Tinnitus Miracle has a more exhaustive list and more complete information about things to avoid as well as things that can help improve your condition.

Here are some of the things you should at least think seriously about avoiding:

Caffeine – Caffeine is a stimulant with several effects that are known to worsen tinnitus for some people. Avoiding it as much as possible is smart, although you might be surprised to learn of all the different sources of caffeine in your diet beyond your morning cup of coffee or tea. To learn more, CLICK HERE.

Alcohol – The reports are mixed on whether moderate alcohol consumption increases or decreases tinnitus. In fact, it appears that it helps some people, while worsening the ringing ears of others. To learn more, CLICK HERE.

Cigarette smoke – Add possibly causing or worsening tinnitus to the list of bad things about cigarette smoke. But are only smokers at risk for this problem? Find out when you CLICK HERE.

Loud noises – Loud noises in the world around you can cause tinnitus as well as make existing ringing ears even worse. Fortunately there are ways to deal with this problem, and Tinnitus Miracle covers several of them. For a few examples, CLICK HERE.

Did you know that the amount of exercise you get can have a significant effect on the amount of ringing in your ears? It’s true, and in this article I’ll explain why.

First let me be clear. The exercise you do doesn’t directly affect your tinnitus. Instead, exercise improves the function of your body and mind in many ways. And this indirectly has a major effect on the problem. Here’s a partial list.

A regular exercise program reduces your stress levels. It has long been known that a regular exercise program is effective in reducing the amount of stress you feel in your life. If you’re stressed, you’re more likely to have stress-induced tinnitus. The higher your stress level, the worse things get. Beyond that, the more stressed out you are, the more your current level of ringing in the ears will upset you, which causes still more stress. Getting enough exercise breaks the cycle.

A regular exercise program will improve the health of your circulatory system. Do you understand how this helps? Improved circulation helps every part of your body to work better and improves your overall health. Many of the conditions that trigger tinnitus can be improved by exercise. When you improve the conditions, your hearing problems may well subside. In particular, as exercise improves your circulatory system, your blood pressure will likely go down. Since high blood pressure has been implicated in tinnitus, reducing your blood pressure is likely to have significant benefits.

We’ve just talked about two of the ways that getting enough exercise, and the right exercise, can help you reduce your tinnitus symptoms. Exercise clearly needs to be part of any holistic treatment for your condition. As you’ve seen, the benefits of a proper exercise program are far-ranging both for your general health and for your tinnitus.
